Do I need to buy one of these for the new facelift lights?
Can I modify the bulb holder on the old one?
Does anyone have one up for grabs?
What sort of deremmling needs to be done if I go down that route instead?

you just unplug one and plug in the other

each light unit has teh appropriate wiring tails

Apart from the indicator which
A) the bulb doesnt fit
B) the bulb holder doesnt fit.

If you end up buying the facelifted harness, I'd be interested in your old harness. Well, actually just the connector and enough wires to solder them...
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Which i THINK Tem is all I need but not sure.
I have 3 bulb holders which are push fit and one which is an old bayonet.
Its the Bayonet which doesnt fit in the new lights

Yeah these are the ones Ste, unfortunately my mate from Manch held onto them for 6 months!
The lamp holders on the facelifts are DIFFERENT from the lampholders on the Pre03
It is not just a case of swapping over due to the cabling.
The wiring harness on the car is not the same as the one on the back of the lights.

iirc Dabeny use to make these harness's up for sale at his shop

I really don't understand the problem here Russ: As has been said, you simply unplug the whole unit and then plug the new one in. It's as straight forward as that, as me and Mark did it on my old car before I traded it in. Absolutely no difference between UK '51 rear lights and UK '53 rear lights, at any rate.

Unless you're saying that the new cluster didn't come with any bulbs and you're trying to transplant the old ones over, in which case would it not be easier to just go and buy a new set of bulbs from Halfrauds?

Yeah - like me, Mark's lights came with the subharness and all bulb holders so it was an easy job.

See, you pays a bit more....  s;) ;) s;)

Just a thought  s:D :D s:D

Maybe aaron as he got a new sub harness with his new lights could spare you an old sub harness from his scrap lights  s:shock:  s:shock:    s:D :D s:D    s:D :D s:D

Then all you would have to do would be to cut off the cable from the fog light holder and indicator holder and reuse them with orange bulbs in your new light  s:D :D s:D

HOORAY!!!! Someone has finally got it!
I need the wiring that goes from the car to the light fitting.
Halfrauds will sell me the bulbs but that doesn't make the lamp holder fit into a smaller hole. They also dont sell the lamp holder or the wiring harness.
On the OLD Model there are 3 fittings the same and one which is different
on the NEW model there are 4 fittings all the same.
Dont forget these were purchased for the ferarri 3Sixty that steve built and he may have needed to keep the harnesses.
SO AGAIN does anyone have a spare harness or even just a pair of the smaller lamp holders so that I can splice them into the old fittings to make 4 fittings the same size?

Nope, still not what I meant  s;) ;) s;)

From what I can gather, you're on about from the harness that comes with the cluster itself to each individual bulb. You don't have that harness I think, so you're trying to use the old one which (and I never knew this) must've been changed when they changed the lights with the facelift. How far out is the difference? If it's just smaller then why not notch out the hole until the holder fits?

Yes dan, the new lights and lenses but the old wiring harness.
So they seem to have changed the indicators for push fit, which are smaller!
I could dremel the holes but wanted a neater solution.

I encountered a similar issue when I bought the post facelift lights and decided to go the 'dremel route'. It not that difficult a job but it does take some time to get it done right. Cutting the notches for the bulb plugs was particularly awkward - handy to have a vernier calipers to get accurate measurements. I reckon if your handy with a small file and a dremel you'll have no bothers doing the alterations.

The only other thing I can think of that you might come up against is the bulb plugs may not sit quite as snugly in the post facelift housings - best solution I could come up with for this was to buy some slightly thicker rubber O rings for the plugs - got them in the plumbing dept. of B&Q - sorted.
TRD lip kit, Che Headers, TRD rear Brace, NGK Plugs, TRD oil filter, Facelift side Vents, Key hole covers.

Cheers for that mate as its driving me nuts!
Does ANYONE have the old wiring harness so we can nick a bulb holder of the smaller variety?

Or, go to Mr T and order:

81555  81555-17200 - SOCKET AND WIRE SUB-ASSY, REAR COMBINATION LAMP, RH
81565  81555-17200 - SOCKET AND WIRE SUB-ASSY, REAR COMBINATION LAMP, LH

90981-11048 BULB 12V 21/5W (BRAKE/TAIL)
90981-15011 BULB 12V 21W AMBER (INDICATOR)
90981-13043 BULB 12V 21W (REVERSE & FOG, 2 per cluster)

Yes, I know the part number for the RH & LH looms is the same - that's what it says on the parts sheet.. but the PNC# is different (81555 vs. 81565) - strange, I've not seen that before.. should be a good place to start checking with Mr T's parts counter, however.

I did call MR T Aaron but the wiring is £20 per side, plus the bulbs, that will make my rear lights nearly as expensive as yours!
What did you do with your old wiring?

aaronjb

#22
I'm afraid it's still very much attached to my old lights - where I'd like it to stay (so that I can put them back on and sell off the facelift lights should I ever sell the car..) ..  s:) :) s:)

And probably $20 per side from US, if you're not in a hurry.  s:lol:  s:lol:

Plus I'm still interested in the plugs, which would cover some of that...
