I fitted mine at the time but the passenger side inside bar was touckhing the hood when i put it down. Coulfdnt be bothered to fix at at the time but it is a problem as it is almost damaging the edge of teh hood everytime i put it down. Have even considered taking the dam bars off.

I cant see anyway of moving the bar forward. Is there anyway to move the bars away a little from the hood, bearing in mind it is only the one bar that is touching the hood.

I am starting to think i have threw away 250 squid  s:( :( s:(

Any suggestons??

I remember this was an issue on SC as well.

You should contact David, he has a solution for this.

Stuart, you should have got an 'L' shaped piece of white nylon with a sloping back... this is used to cure the problem. It attaches to the catch part of the trim, the hood clasp slides against it and this pushes the hood back slightly, stopping the rubbing.

Another alternative is to loosen the bolts holding the bar in, pull the bars forward toward the front of the car, then retighten whilst holding it forward, this pulls the bars out a bit.

If you need more help, PM me and I'll see what I can come up with.

Slacey is right. I also had this problem.
I solved the problem by taking out the bolts and inserting washers under the rear bolt points, this pushes the bars foreward enough to clear the hood.

I can assure you if you have a problem or any other issue with the bars contact David, he will be only too willing to help. He will not be happy until you are. Contact adddress below.

I did this too and also used the nylon L-bracket and eventually it worked, though the roof hasn't been down since I fitted the hoops  s:oops:  s:oops:  so I expect it all to be a bit stiff when the sun comes back.

The nylon L-bracket needed lots of filing down so that the roof would still lock, and yet may need more.

You'll curse a lot, but you'll get there  s:wink:  s:wink:

It's funny how it goes on different cars though, I didn't use washers or the nylon piece and I don't get any rubbing at all... although I did do the pulling the bars forward thing when putting the bolts in.

If the clearance is very small and he has originally designed it to barely work with his own car, it's really no surprise. Every other softtop seems to be a bit different...no idea if it's the top itself or the install, but they sure aren't identical.
