WD - That actually wasn't aimed at you, it was at the thread in general, sorry about that.

I'm not saying it can't be fast (and maybe I was a little harsh in my delivery...) I'm just saying that in the scheme of things, most modern hot hatches are quicker cars.  They just are.  That's not that I want one, it's just that if speed and grip is your goal then why buy an Mr2?

Mr2s are all about fun.  Their handling is awesome.  But that depends how you define handling...  If you mean grip, then there is better out there.  If you mean balance and comunication then there is little better.  The modern porkers sadly are more in the grip bracket of handling, which is not really my thing.

Sorry if that sounded like an outright attack on the Mr2, it's not.  It's just an observation.  This obsession with 'beating' other cars saddens me and really belongs in the world of Max Power.

I find myself thinking that the '2 is far too slow every time I leave a set of traffic lights..

But then on the odd occasion that I actually get to drive down a nice country lane on a clear, dry night, it reminds me why I bought it  s:) :) s:)

Sadly, I've only had the chance to do that once!  s:roll:  s:roll:  Not many country roads round here, afterall..

Horses for courses I suppose - if I could have a car that was as nimble as the '2, and as powerful as a Porsche (or even just my old 300ZX), I'd jump at it  s:) :) s:)  A car like that doesn't exist though (in terms of production cars anyway, at least, to my knowledge), so I suppose I'll just have to stick to owning two cars, and hankering after a late 80's 911 Turbo  s:) :) s:)
