Bumper doesn't match?

I've finally got my baby back after the pheasant incident but it looks as tho it's gona have to go back to the repair people - apart from the fact that they obviously haven't replaced the number plate or valeted it, I don't think they've "a-glazed" the new bumper. And, even worse - I'm sure there is a difference in the shade of blue on the new bumper - I don't think I'm imagining it but there definitely seems to be a subtle difference. Is this possible? (I think I know the answer, just want it confirming!)

It's very possible...actually it's more likely than a perfect match  s:? :? s:?

Then again, the old and new will always fade a bit different, so even if you get a perfect match now, it might not be that after a year  s:? :? s:?

You just can't win with partial painting...
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

You're not imagining it.  I had my bumper resprayed last July after some cowboys tried to fix some minor scratches before JAE.

So after being a bit low during JAE I took my car to Mr T and their 'preferred bodyshop' resprayed both my bumpers.......

I was gutted (again!) but it is only noticeable when the sun is shining directly on it and I bet no-one would have noticed on the cold morning of the Treasure Hunt.  I've lived with it until now and I doubt Mr T would do anything for me 8 months later!!

If I was you and what I should have done is go back to Mr T and park next to another same coloured MR2 and show them.  I just wish I could do it now.   s:cry:  s:cry:

I had no end of bodyshop troubles when I had my rear wing painted (lagoon blue), but the paint colour was actually the only thing they got right!! They blended it into the door, and it's actually impossible to tell which panel was painted under any light conditions - and I'm EXTREMELY fussy about these things!   s:twisted:  s:twisted:

They did leave the laquer with horrendous orange peel though, obviously forgot to cut it back after spraying.. and a couple of bits of trim weren't well fitted either when they slightly mis-aligned the wing..   s:roll:  s:roll:

I'd take it straight back and tell them you're not happy with the colour.. if you can see it (with your "unofficially trained eye"), then they should have spotted it too. More than likely they hoped you wouldn't notice, and didn't have time to do it again - or it probably wasn't even given more than a cursory glance at inspection.   s:roll:  s:roll:

Good luck!

cheers people! If the car was older I would have expected a less than perfect match but as its an 03 (53 in fact) I can't see that it would have faded that much already. Have already phoned them and will try and pop down later while the sun is out. I can see that it's a new bumper - can't put my finger on exactly why as all the gaps are even etc, but I think if I was looking at the car as a potential purchaser I'd pick up that it's had a new bumper. Am not looking to sell it, but it's something to bear in mind for later.

Absolutely! Accept nothing less than perfection, it is possible with a little care and attention to detail.. plus some skill and experience!

I do appreciate people have to learn a trade somehow.. but with it's simple constrution of bolt-on panels and bumpers, I think our '2 is the ideal candidate for trainees to hone their skills on.... but the majority of the blame has to go to management for not closely monitoring their quality control, although sadly this seems to come 2nd place these days to profit.   s:roll:  s:roll:

Sorry, but modern laquered paint doesn't fade. Even the base colours (red, black etc) are laquered, i believe, so they won't fade either.

I've been back to see them and they tried to tell me that it's cos the bumper is plastic and the rest isn't etc. There is a slight diff with the back bumper - there always has been and I accept that much, but having lovingly washed and polished the thing I know damned well that if there was a dodgy match at the front end as well I'd know about it.  They're not willing to play at this stage - am letting the insurance co know (before they pay them) and am going to go thro my photos to check if I've got any that show that there wasn't such a difference in the pre-pheasant days. Do any of you own a lagoon blue in this neck of the woods that I could compare to??

(also have another new problem but that'll be in a new post...)

Just DON'T SIGN ANYTHING from the bodyshop and the insurance company will sort it....well mine did with the Astra.
