Sounds like a good idea - you seem to know more about this area of management than most, so maybe you could draft something.  Lets see what the committee think!

It would be really interesting to put something positive to Toyota about these issues and see what the feedback is.  In my opinion particularly the bubbling alloys problem because I tend towards the 'brake disks just rust' camp.

Quote from: "heathstimpson"Toyota are meant to be the cream on continuous improvement within the manufacturing industry through their TPS (Toyota Production System). They are admired by most and my company Kodak have based our new system on theirs. All their employees have to work on improvement projects that they choose. It may be to improve production methods by employing easier methods or reducing waste etc, or some look at the biggest warrenty issues and make changes with their suppliers to eliminate this type of waste which includes time. I can't believe that the alloys and brake disc issues have not been picked up yet. Maybe we should write to the MR2 manufacturing site with some suggestions for their employee Kaizen events...

Is this reality or just Toyota rhetoric?   s:wink:  s:wink:  I thik this problem is endemic across the Toyota range. When my car was last in, and I was having an argument with the sales manager he showed me a brand new Avensis that was parked in the lot outside, it was worse than mine. I don't think its just the MR that suffers

No it's not just the 2 that has rusty disks and corroding wheels.

Had the same problems on my old Yaris T-Sport.   s:roll:  s:roll:

When the company I work for were first implementing our new management lean manufacturing system I got to go to Toyota to see how theirs worked. I was very impressed with what went on it the Derby site which makes the Avensis and Corolla. I can honestly say that their systems are reality so I think they would not ignore a letter if sent to the correct place.

Why not draft a letter, publish the draft on the forum and ask people to 'sign up'. Then we can send a letter with a lot of real names attached.

the MR-2 is really well made in most respects. I'm sure Toyota don't want these little things letting it down.
