On the prefacelift headunit you could use a phono to 3.5mm jack

Got my Mr2 last week and so far the prefacelift HU is realyl good, however due to the bumpy ride in the MR2 it causes my CDs to skip every now and again! I've seen a few peopel saying you can use a 3.5 phono on the prefacelift head units but where is the 3.5mm plug? Im assuming on the back not sure where abouts, plus how do i can't find an option on the radio to choose auxillary as a source?

Talking about this one:

not the other pre-facelift stereo!

I haven't got one but if that's a pair of audio in phono jacks at the bottom then a phono LR to 3.5mm jack should do it?

I would also be keen to knowing this works. I have the same head unit. I suppose you just select the MD function to get the iPod?

This is set up on mine-phono cable to ipod, plus a wire that just plugs in to the back of the H.U, tricking it in to thinking there's a cd changer wired in. Then I press the cd button and it works through that  s:D :D s:D

Will the phono option not work unless you have the other wire plugged in the back?

For those wanting to do this...

You need:

*** the red & white phono to 3.5mm jack cable, such as  m http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Phono-Ste ... B000Q6LSVS m

 and also

***this cable (stamped part no: 07-100, I believe it's from 'Connects2' but was on the car when I bought it. Try contacting them here..   m http://www.connects2.co.uk m

cable:

-The phono cable goes from the back of the headunit in to the iPod or other device.

-The cable above goes in to the back of the headunit (you can fit it without removing the headunit, just feel around until it fits-it's at the bottom left corner as you look at the front of the headunit. It takes some manipulating of the plug but it fits fine.) The other end, as you can see in the pic above, does not attach to anything. this cable tricks the H.U in to thinking there's a cd changer wired in, and then when you press the 'CD' button, your music magically begins to play!!??

HOPE THAT HELPS!  s:D :D s:D

Hmm Am liking the idea of a 7 or 9.7" tablet installed into the arm rest section or possible dash install... hmmm

Oh and surely a better idea would be to connect a small amplifier somewhere and connect the tablet/ipod to that rather than just using the stereos own output as that will be kind lame anyway?

Actually even better idea scrap the seperate tablet and hassle of installing  m http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TD718A-2DIN-C ... 2c65759226 m

Hello,

I have sent an email to connects2 re cable

could not find it anywhere on there site.

can you confirm that for it to work I definitely need that cable?

the phono to 3.5mm jack on its own just wont do it?

i have one of those and will try it later but i can pop into a car audio place on the way home to try and pick up that cable if its needed.

what would one call that cable ? might help me in my searches

cheers guys

Anyone tried connecting a Sony  cd changer bus link to see if that works? would the HU think the cd changer is connected and play the iPod through the phono to 3.5mm jack?
