Anyone read the article in EVO this month, 27,000 quid for a complete set of disks & pads and it appears that they're not as reliable as our rusty old toyotas   s:P :P s:P

Yeah i read that..can you imagine your car going in for a service.. "yes Sir the brakes were shot so we fixed those as well..." oh right what the damage... Nightmare

They were advising that owners with the PCB brakes take them off the car, only to put them back on when they come to sell it!

I presume its the ceramic mix thats prooving the problem for both companies.  F1 cars run carbon brakes with few problems, the ceramic element in the Merc and Porsche which is needed for cold stopping I imagine is to blame.

Its the cold stopping thats the problem, and I think a little premature for the company's to be putting them on cars to be honest.  I don't think we are there yet.

Maybe is 6 years (if the Gulf stream doesn't stop and we all get covered in snow) the 2010 Ford RS will have them, but I don't think any car road car has any need right now.

yeah I read it with amusement - didn't it also say that trips to circuit gravel traps ruin them as well?

Although I imagine mr gt3 owner would never venture near a track...  s:wink:  s:wink:
