Looking to buy a fixer-upper?

I am looking for a project, thinking an MR2 Mk3.

We already own one, have done for 2 years now. Looking on fleabay for a 'fixer upper' for reasonable money, not looking to go into business but have the time on my hands to do basic work and put a car back on the road.

I know about pre-cats and oil usage, anything else i should be looking at - sorry if there is a buyers guide i haven't spotted it, please point me in the right direction if there is.
