Stereo keeps cutting out

Hello,

I have just bought a MK3 Roadster, which I'm loving, but there seems to be a fault with the stereo. Yesterday the sound kept cutting out briefly, but regularly, and would return without me doing anything. Although the sound stopped, the screen was still illuminated and appeared normal. Interestingly, it cut out more frequently when using the CD player than the radio. Was wondering if it could be heat related, because it was the first time I had the roof down for a decent length of time and the heater - which seems incredibly effective - was on all day. It's also the first time the problem has occurred.

The car also has a Parrot handsfree kit fitted, so maybe that is playing up?

Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere, and thanks for the help.

Sounds like a loose connection - do you know if it's the stock stereo? For a pre-facelift model, this is a Sony WX-C570R.

Yeah it's a stock radio. Just the sounds cuts out thought, the stereo stays lit up.

Daft/random question of the day, but was it raining when it was cutting out a lot?  It's just that I'm sure there is something I've read in a Toyota Manual (although could have been for one of our other Toyotas!) that says the stereo particularly the CD may have problems in damp conditions.

Hi Caroline, it had been raining for most of the week, but on the day the problem occurred the sun was out and the roof was down! I'm now thinking about swapping it for a newer system, which is iPhone compatible...
