Hey mate  s:) :) s:)

Yeah I've made some progress, off the top of my head; rear roll hoop section, stripped some more out the interior, new seats, moved battery to the front, BC coilovers, ARBs, Wilwood brakes on the front, and I went for a 2zz engine. Although it spun a bearing on my way home from picking it up  s:( :( s:(

Engine currently being rebuilt from ground up, and I am now very, very broke!

Glad to see you back mate !  s:D :D s:D

Some pretty horrific luck you've had there buddy - lovely to see a nice shiny engine build though. One thing to bare in mind with a head skim is the timing chain won't time up properly - what you take out you have to put back in with head gasket. Cosworth do 3 sizes of head gasket; thinner than stock, slightly thicker and substantially bigger. The exact sizes are listed on MWR's website.

Hope you don't have any more issues, and it all runs in nicely. Plenty of oil changes and a strong magnetic sump plug  s;) ;) s;)

We are waiting for the head to come back from its machining and rebuild, then Patrick can crack on with getting it together. If I have the car I may well come yes, I will need to get some miles on it to run it in and that is quite a nice drive out there for me.

With all this nice weather in really missing the opportunity to drive the mr2 about! Hope it stays for a bit longer once it's on the road again!

Good old Patrick went into work at the weekend to progress with the engine build, which was very good of him, he really is going out of his way to help where possible.

And it was worth it, the engine is now built and ready to mate up with the gearbox .... and then it's into the car which should happen within a week or two!

Good job that it's back together Mark, that must be a relief!

My bottom end is built, but I had trouble getting a broken lift bolt out and have ended up buying a replacement head because I damaged the bore of the rocker shaft and I'm worried about an oil leak preventing lift... I think I can feel a bit of the same stress coming on that this project has given you as I've received a message saying I need to book my company car in for return... I can ignore it for a time but after a while they'll call me in, so the 2zz has got to be running before then as the MR2 will be my daily driver at that point!!

Sounds like a real pain. It's never nice to have time pressures against you, makes problems even worse!

Good luck!

Patrick is running his normal business 9-5 and taking on these extra jobs for members of the various mr2 clubs. I don't know where he finds the time. But I'm glad he does as my car wouldn't be what it is today without him. That 2zz just looks so right in the roadster bay.
