Guys,

I know there are now about 3 of you who have bought spare engines with teh intention of using the Monkeywrench 2 litre kit.

Having just spoken to DIG they will not cover this mod. In common with this a number of other insurers are not allowing capacity ioncreases.

Who are you getting your insurance with?

thansk,

Mark.

I decided not to go this route in the end, however I would have thought the likelyhood of any insurance assesor stripping down the block and measuring the cubic capacity would be slim to say the least, especially as anyone with this mod would no doubt already have a turbo declared anyway. (not defo but likely)

Not that I would condone such an approach, obviously   s:wink:  s:wink:

the thought occured, but with my luck they would notice I guarantee it.

so what are you doing with that engine then Perry?

I didnt get one matey, Ian has one sitting in his garage that I believe hes sitting on incase he pushes the existing onoe too far and then he'll go big bore.

we are expecting the MWR charge cooler kits to arrive in the UK any day now, then were going run these along side the Aquamist to push the boost more.

Matt at MWR was running his at 12 psi with stock internals and a charge cooler for quite some time, so were going to see how it goes as we progressivly increase our power to the point of either boost drop off (The PE tends to drop to 10psi at redline if running 12psi) or knock/concerns.

Hopefully we wont need to go big bore as the performance should be scary enough by that point as it is.  mind you its still an option, but an expensive one when you take into consideration third party labour costs

I haven't enquired with my insurer yet as the PE isn't big enough to test the stock motor, with the right cooling and tuning of course, so unless i decide to change the turbo, changing the bore isn't worth it.IMO

I'm adding their charge cooler and dialing up the pressure to 1bar, i'll see how much the PE drops on high revs.

My thoughts at the moment are, i've got another complete engine sat here in great condition, so i can try being a bit cocky now, if it breaks then the big bore will go ahead on the engine i break. I'll swop the engine i have here in, and lower the boost again while it's being done, then swop it over when it's ready.

That's if i don't just sell the lot and go for something else.  s:oops:  s:oops:
