Kerstie went up north yesterday for a long weekend in the Celica.  For about a week there has been a rattle in the car, which has been a right pain.

Anyway about half way up the M1 she discovered what the rattle was when the brake pedal fell off.  These are the Drilled Aluminium pedals that come as part of the Style pack on the Celica.

Surfice to say this was a highly dangerous situation to be in.

Her dad check them this morning, and they where just screwed in with no washers, so it was inevitable that they would work loose.

Whilst I calm down with my anger at Mr T, I want to get the opinions on how I should handle this with my local dealer.

I assume we are just taling about pedal cover, not the entire pedal?

Apparently they are not covers, they are actually new pedals.  I havent confirmed this.  But from what she said, there was no pedal to push....not good at 80mph

ok, just to be clear, the pedal in my bookis tehwhole mechanism, including teh hinging bit, springs, and the part that you put your foot onto. everything up to the firewall.

I'm taking it from your description that it's just teh bit that you put your foot on, not the entire assembly?

First thing I'd do is check with theCelica club and see if a) this is common or b)their pedals are also secured in teh same way.

It is the actual "bit" you put your foot on, the "flat" bit.

The brake assembly itself is fine...and hence once she figured out what happened she could brake, albeit awkwardly.

Will check over at the celica club to see if its common.
