Hello, i recently (last week) purchased my 01 MR2 Spyder with 21000 miles on it.

Im totally new to the car so have no clues as to the performace mods available.

I also own a 97 Eclipse GS-T spyder with a fully built race motor and all that good stuff, so im pretty knowledgable out FI performance parts and whatnot, but not at all with NA .. much less MR2/S mods and whatnot.

Ive searched far and wide for a forum dedicated to this car, and this is by far the most... populated i have found.

Im guessing in one of very few on here who are from the US (as i have noticed by looking at posts from others and their locations)

anyway,  I am wondering a few things.. which are Qs: i have based on my former experence with my DSM.

1: what are the "free mods" (modifications to intake/exhaust for very little price.. etc) to the MR2 roadster to free up some power (if any)..  most cars have at least a few.

2: who makes a good turbo kit for this car?.. the is definatly enough room for one, and i could probably fab one myself.. but just wondering if there is a pre-built setup available.

3: is my spyder any different from the UK models?

Welcome.

In your search for sites did you not come across the most populated from your side of the pond?  m http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB/index.php m

Be warned though if you did post there with the same question you will probably get told to just SEARCH followed by 10pages of flaming  s:roll:  s:roll:

We have the info here aswell, if you do use the 'search forum' button in the top right of the page you will get lots and lots of information.

Quick answers to help you

1. Not much here, but gut your pre-cats!!!
2. If your confident enough then yes i'd fab my own, but available are PE,but look over at SC at the new Haas or Stafford Fabrictions kits. The Haas looks really nice.
3. No, well some slight things, but depends on what area you mean different.(and i don't mean our drivers seat is on the otherside of the car  s:D :D s:D  )

There's a pretty good list in Spyderchat:

(go to Chat Rooms, Performance area and see the first sticky post)

Spyderchat is "bigger" and most of the people in there are from US, I think you should check it out as well  s8) 8) s8)  It has a lot of info, but also tons of bullshit and forum fights...  s:? :? s:?

You can chop the stock airbox, taking the MAF part of it and route it to suck air behind the battery through free flow filter. There used to be instructions here, but seems the whole site is now down  s:? :? s:?

You might also want to get rid of the precats, see here:

A bit...different gearing (US is faster) and you have no LSD. And some minor stuff like the position of side repeaters...

Edit: Ok, I was a bit slow  s:oops:  s:oops:
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.
