Anybody on here do a k20 swap? Picking up and engine this weekend, ordered my mounts and drive shafts so hopefully as soon as i get the engine it can go in and sit on its wheels. Then back to the original question, i was wondering if anybody on here had do it due to management, getting it in is one thing getting it running will be another mater, also gear linkage best way round that. I have ideas but not going to buy any more until i have engine sitting where its meant to go.

thanks gaz

I hope by the summer, it'll be running pretty standard for now then when money allows be adding a few mods to see 250bhp n/a my mate has already done it to a k swapped integra, which is now super charged and running nearly 400bhp be nice to see them figures 1 day

Apart from a V6 this is the best swap.
There are so many options for these engines its awesome.

Getting it running unless you got a aftermarket ecu you will have to run 2 ecu's, you might also have to run a temp sensor wired to the mr2 ecu for the instruments

Cheers dave, planning on running 2 ecu's to keep price down, hopefully get it done for £2k plus exhaust cost.

Would the instruments not work off mr2's ecu?

There is a guy on here DaSilva who is doing a k-swap.

I think it would be the ultimate engine in a sorted roadster.

Shame it costs so much

Cost wise i dont think its too bad really, i think for £2.5k i will have it done. Plus money back off the old 1zz. Its a much better engine than the 2zz imo. Just cant wait to get it running. Nurburgring this year too can't wait

I roughly added it up, with engine mounts, drive shafts and some management solution to keep the mr2 clocks and run the engine, was looking like more than that, plus the price of the engine.

I agree it's a more powerful and potentially "better" engine but if I was to throw £3k+ at an engine I'd rather sell the car and buy something more extreme for track / race use.

That's not to say it isn't worth it for everyone and admire you doing it. I'll certainly be looking with interest!

I class the mr2 as an affordable elise. I only paid £500 for the car. So adding up everything by the end of it i would like to have a 200+bhp mid engined roadster that owes me less than £4k

Drive shaft wise I'm getting mine cheap as they dont need to be massively strong due to lack of torque. Pick up my mounts for £250 new second hand. Engine gear box  & loom off and friend £1100 he only paid £1400 for the whole car. Only paid just over £1500 exhaust will be next big expense. or if i get problems managment wise. Want to modify gear linkage myself otherwise its another £100 + i would rather not be spending.

Getting exited now. Sitting in my unit is the engine, coilovers, adjustable rear arms. Was thinking about making up my own twin anti roll bar for the rear but thinking i mite just buy an uprated 1 now. Just wanting on my drive shafts. Soon as i have stripped the few bits off the car i dont need, car will be trailered up to the unit ready to be assembled.

New plans are to run it in a sprint series. Going as light weight as i can, no roof at all, rear cage, everything removed that is not needed. Would like to see around 230bhp with few mods that are already on this engine that i didn't know about. Doubt i will be competitive but will be fun. Will keep it road legal but only use it for a bit of fun

Hi pal

I've already done this conversion and I'm located in Brum. I've met Dom on a few occasions and also know Matt and Dan page from those neck on the woods.

Good luck with the conversion. I'm here to help if you need any tips.

I've seen it on the forums and footage on track. I helped Matt through his first civic turbo build with advice and parts. It was sad to see his latest build recently blow on him but he's better off with a K now.

Get a build-up thread going.

Cheers
