Hi, been thinking about an under-dash woofer, as the boxes are NLA, does anyone have plans or even just the rough HxWxD?

Just thinking of a cheapy 6.5" woofer, driven from my headunit (it bridges to drive a sub)

I know this won't sound like the JL and an amp, but I reckon it'll cost me <£20 to build and fit, got to be worth it for a touch more bass? I can take a little of the strain off the standard door speakers using the headunit crossover as well...

I can easily make the box, used to make subwoofer cabinets and kick panels. If money was a bit mor available I would dive straight in for a proper system!

Also, do the existing UD boxes fire into the bulkhead or up or down? Or sideways!?

Thanks in advance!!!

They fire upwards to make max use of the corner effect for bass.  They work very well.

They fire upwards, into the dash cavity.

Cheers for replies, thank you

Any ideas on a rough size so I can work out the volume?

I will be under there having a go in a week or so but a rough idea of box size would help me locate a woofer

Do a search for the fitting guide me and Nathan did and you will get a good idea, plenty of pics.   Its a complex shape to make and get the hardware in the correct locations so you'd be better off buying one off the forum.  I'm sure there's one for sale on here.

Volume wise its pretty small, but its sealed and the sub is only a 6" so it doesn't need much.

Would you sell the panels as a flat pack for DIY build?

I've got a under seat thingy squashed behind my passenger seat. Built in amp
sounds good, doesn't block the storage boxes and the seat goes almost all the way back.

Not sure, hypothetically

Bearing in mind they would need assembly, sanding, filling, trimming e.t.c would there be demand?

Would you want the mounting brackets?

I guess it depends on the price difference between ready built and flat pack?

I'd be very interested too! Either flat pack or pre-built. I guess flat pack would be easier to send out.
I'm not saying I'm batman. I'm just saying that nobody has ever seen me and batman in a room together.

Just a thought,  does anyone think you'd get a 6x9 up there? I still haven't had a chance to get under there to grub around...

6x9  wouldn't be a sub so why bother

Just on a tiny budget, can probably pinch a 6x9 or 6.5" just to add some reinforcement

Also, you can buy 6x9 subs, Genesis, JL and Kicker iirc? Adds a bit of surface area (if it would fit...)

Apart from the Inphase active sub, has there been any other active subs mounted under the dash?

I made a baffle board and fitted a 10" kicker free air sub, sounded pretty good but I had to use a lot of sound deadening to seal the dash a bit and stop unwanted vibrations.

Cheers

So busy with work I haven't been able to get up there. As work has been busy (but could disappear any minute...) I am torn between my initial no-money-stick-a-cheapie-woofer under there driven by the head unit (it has sub bridging output) or if work continues to find me, splash out on something active to go up there? But while work is coming in, I don't really get time to even have a rummage with the tape measure!

I would 100% buy one off you if you made another batch.
