New remote key

My remote key casing disintegrated. Remote recased with replacement blade by Timpsons. New blade works in ignition but engine mgt light has now come on. Also new blade won't lock manually. Is new blade likely to have engine mgt error or just coincidence?

likely to be a coincidence, but not locking manually sounds like a poor cut. Does your disintegrated key manually lock all doors, glovebox and rear bins?
