Valet key and Alarm

I've mislaid my main 2 button key for the mr2, I still have the grey valet key which opens the doors and starts the car but the alarm goes off the minute I open the door ! The car starts but the alarm still goes. Any way I can silence the alarm ? Or use the key without the alarm going off .

Only way to shut the alarm off is by disconnecting it all together Or get another twin button key and programme that to your alarm. problem is you will have 2 keys one for the fob and one for the ignition. My daughter has that at the moment as I havent had time to change the locks and ecu

Thanks for reply, it's mk3 fl model and my valet key opens both doors and starts the car. Just can't drive it cos the alarm keeps going. It stops once inside but starts if you move !

I can tell you where your alarm box is by pm.if you want. Try locking the glove box or storage bins bet you can't.  Also don't loose the valet key or you will need a lock kit and ecu

This is dependent on you having a Master. If you only have a Valet key you are out of luck (AFAICT).

I'm really surprised to hear that the valet key doesn't disable the alarm. I've never tried it on mine.  Fortunately it appears, my car came with three keys (two remotes and a manual) On every car I've owned previously, turning the key in the lock instead of pressing the remote buttons, activates the central locking, which in turn deactivates the alarm. Are you sure there is not a fault with your car?  I thought the whole point of the butler/garage key, was that it enabled you to give it to the garage/valet parking person, and let them drive the vehicle without having access to things they shouldn't?  What is the point of the key if you can't use it without the alarm going off?  Having said all that, after hearing my alarm, I don't think it would scare anyone. Mine sounds like a hamster screaming during an asthma attack!  What idiot thought encasing it with a spare wheel inside a canvas bag inside a plastic bin inside a metal bonnet would help clarity?
