Stu, epic post! Thank you!

No worries.  s:-D :-D s:-D

I didn't fit the spoiler, if I was to I would take nadeem's idea and bolt down only. If it did start to rattle or move, there is always more torque or a pad inbetween.

From memory there are 3 brackets.

I think it's 5 brackets. 3 like those in Stu's pics and 2 that are a different shape for the outer bolts.

That rings a bell Paul. Forgot about those outer ones. It had been a while since I last looked.  s:lol:  s:lol:

So it's arrived! - but it's definitely scruffy, with a small chip on the side..but it's only got the 2 side brackets?

I was told it would arrive with all the fixings, and so I'm missing the 3 brackets and bolts etc from the middle section.

In the event they are not available, I'm either going to have to return it, unless you guys know where you can get replacement brackets?

If you've got the 2 side brackets and they hold it in place correctly could you not make something up for the others?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Have a look here -  l viewtopic.php?f=46&t=17138 l

for the full Toyota fitting instructions.  It's in the 'Technical Data' 'Reference' section.

Looks like a PITA to fit.  Should have gone for the TTE 'Banana' Sport spoiler   s:wink:  s:wink:  .  Fitting looks a lot easier!

So - I've elected to return it. :-/ It turns out the previous owner didn't have the middle retaining brackets either!  They basically stuck it on with adhesive...

So it's going back tomorrow .. unless I can find a way tonight to satisfy what I think would be a decent mounting of it. Unlikely though..

And I had such grand plans of carbon dipping it and the side vents.... oh well!

just bond it on with tiger seal or some sikaflex...

I don't have any mounting brackets on my ducktail (all be it slightly different it was off the group buy and mounts to the bonnet lid not bumper) been on for a few months and it aint going anywhere there's no way you could pull it off... so with 2 brackets and bonded on, there is no chance of it coming off

i also have sikaflex on my side vents no brackets and again done a track day with speed of 110mph and drove the car around and there soild as a rock, couldn't pull them off, i think the fibre glass would break before the bonding.

lots of people bond side skirts on and lots of OEM just use 3M tape to attached all manner of parts with no problem.

Hey Tommy,
Thanks for the advice, I'm leaning towards taking it now!
I've matched it up to the bumper and reckon it'll work..

Everyone's advice prior was not to use adhesive, so I'm going to see what I think in the morning!

The only problem with sticking the spoiler onto the bumper would be that removal of the rear lights a real ball ache if at all possible.

Ok, is there a regular reason to need to get the rear bumper off?

That could be a issue... but looking at the pics in the thread it doesn't look like it will stop you taking the rear lights off at all bolted or bonded really, seem like plenty of room to get them out with the spoiler on, the spoiler only just over hangs the lights so they would slide out no problem.

but like i said i have a different spoiler so can say for definite, im sure someone on here has that same spoiler maybe they know, i would be surprised if you had to un bolt the spoiler every time you wanted to take the lights out, considering its a toyota design i cant see them making it so you couldn't get the lights out with out removal of the spoiler.

The problem would be the locating lug on the rear left hand top of the light unit,as you need to tilt the light unit up nearest the spoiler prior to pulling them out.

yeah could be a issue for sure

easy way to find out, bolt the spoiler on (with the 2 mounting brackets) which will position it where its going to sit and try and take a light out if its no problem un bolt it put some tiger seal on and then bolt back down job done

Guys it makes it really hard to get the lights out for definite.
Matt told me he would fit one for me but he would never do any work on the car again!!!

Sigh... Well I've taken the plunge and ordered the rear bumper with holes in it.
There must be a way of eventually getting the whole thing off surely...

Yep leave the bolts out that are under the light so the light dont need to be removed to get the bumper off. And before someone says it will fall off, there is still plenty of bolts holding the bumper on.

Mines been fitted with the 3 bolts along the bumper fine without the side brackets. No issues and only takes a couple of minutes to remove if needed. Zero hassle and looks awesome.
