Hi Folks,

I'm pleased to announce that we have another competition, just in time for the end of this year  s:) :) s:)

Kevin Beane (Beanie) has very kindly given me some of his great spider badges to give away, so there will be three winners this time!

To win one, just PM me with the answer to this question:

The gear knob shown below is very popular with the MR2 / Spyder community, but what kind of spider is in there?

Answers must be in by the 31st of December and I'll announce the winners early in the new year. Good luck!

Creepy, but worth it to see my girlfriend try to drive the car with one of those gear stick knobs on.

OK, competition closed!

And the winners are... well, it wasn't hard to pick as only four of you got the question right (and one person who doesn't want a badge but wanted to guess), so I am going to give a bonus and send each of the four a badge  s:D :D s:D

They are:

SimonC_Here
Fairportspyder
Kanujunkie
Fraz

The correct answer is that the spider in the shift knobs is an Australian Redback (Lactrodectus hasselti)

Well done to those who got it right, and hopefully I will have another competition soon for the others to try again.

One last thing; could the four above PM me their address so that I can post out the badges please  s:wink:  s:wink:

Congratulations to the winners.  Those arachnaform items are now collector's items.

For the steering wheel badge I recommend using model cement.  After removing the stock badge (pry out taking care not to dent the steering wheel plastic), you'll see a flat surface with 4 rectangular holes in it in an X formation.  This area isn't perfectly flat and you'll want to sand it down just a bit so bumps don't press into the metalic back of the badge.  It that happens, you may see the bump from the front.  Find yourself a bungee cord big enough to wrap around the steering wheel and a hand towel.  Pull the horn fuse or disconnect battery.  After sanding the steering wheel center, apply an even light coat of model cement and let it sit until it gets tacky.  Next, stick badge on center and make sure there isn't so much cement that it leaks around the edges.  That would be bad.  Make sure badge is aligned properly.  Press and hold with your hand for several minutes.  If you let go it should stay put.  Place folded over hand towel over steering wheel center and hold in place with bungee cord.

That's what I did, except for the sanding part.  Mine has a little bump.  Oh well... I have more badges.   s8) 8) s8)
