Hi all,
I've got a 6 speed gearbox on my pre facelift car and I'd like to install an alert for the car being in reverse.

The facelift car has the beep. Any ideas how easy this would be to retrofit? If it's a ball ache, how difficult to just install a warning light on the dash?

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Cheers
Matt

Do you want a buzzer or light? its not hard to do I would tap into the reverse light wiring and if you wanted a buzzer fit it inside the rear bins. I am always throwing buzzers away at work when I replace reverse sensor kits old one gets filed in the bin

Thanks for the offer. When you say buzzer, is it a proper buzzer (like the university challenge buzzer). That would get annoying very quickly. The facelift one was slightly annoying.  I've got a blank switch on the dash which I could just install a small warning light in.

Any idea where to start with getting to the reverse light wiring?

Easiest is to break into the wiring on the right side rear light cluster. You can then run twin flex inside the wing into the bins behind the driver via a bung in the firewall. Then to the dash under the door threshold capping.

I wouldn't feel safe with just a light. It's so easy to choose reverse by mistake and an audible warning is a must. There's plenty of choices at Maplin which could easily be added to your light. They're only about £3.99.
