I was parked beside this silver MX-5 this morning and took these pics with my cam-phone (hence the bad quality-soz!).  Just thought it was quite a good comparison between the two cars.  Don't want to get into the whole the 2 is better than the 5 thing (it is by the way   s:twisted:  s:twisted:  ) but I always thought that the 2 looked more purposeful, more balanced on the road.
It is all a subjective thing I guess but I thought my 2 looked the mutts nuts sat beside that 5, made me smile anyway, and I thought I'd share the photos (pity they weren't better   s:roll:  s:roll:  )

i always think the front of the 2 looks kinda, well happy with a big smile. As opposed to the gimp mask of the MX5

"gimp mask"??   s:lol:  s:lol:    s:lol:  s:lol:    s:lol:  s:lol:

you can definitely see why the '2 has so much more interior room than the mazda, it positively dwarfs the miata in width......

I'd always wanted an MX5 before the Roadster was around.  And I still think they're nice cars now... but looking at that photo, you are so spot on!!!

Blink your eyes quickly -

LH car looks E-typish, RH car looks GT40ish. Agree, or am I just being ageist?

The 5 is a lot smaller inside that the 2, and you can see why in your pictures. The 2 lines just looks sooooooo much better  s:wink:  s:wink:

i love the miata, but at best it's a tight fit, at worst it's undrivable.......it's a shame, because it really is a nice car....

Yeah thats why i didn't go for the mx-5, my leg had to wrap around the steering wheel and then hit the clutch at a funny angle, there was no way.  Which is a shame, but i suppose in the end a good thing because i ended up with the 2.

Prefer the looks and (slighlty) extra power of the 2 also.

The 5 is a fine car though.  The gearbox is amazing.

Being from household that has one of each of these, my husband says that the '2 feels alot more secure than the Mazda and he loves to drive the '2 as it is that more powerful than his '5...pity I can't say the same about his car, scares the watsit out of me around corners!
ex-TTE Turbo, now Freelander Sport, its not a car its a Landrover!
