Sooo, The Android head unit has arrvied and its going to be running several systems:

Audio System
Bluetooth Hands free with ext Mic
Sat Nav with External GPS
Rear Reversing camera which wil be shift activated
Front facing dash cam
Torque Pro with bluetooth ELM adapter (modded for the ABS issue).
4 Channel amp running new door speakers with possibility of a sub at some point.

Any anything else I can dream up...and I'm going to do a How to for it all!! However I do need some help first please peeps.

Being totally unfamilliar with the trim layout of the MR2 and mid engined motors can anyone give me some pointers / pics for the following:

What are the best entry points into the cabin for power supplys etc from the engine, is the grommet under the battery best?
What is the greatest depth of 6.5" speakers I can comfortably get? Can anyone recommend me some £50 - £100?
does anyone have a quick run down as to how all the door sill plastic trim, and bins come out?
Has anyone mounted a four channel amp? what are the likely locations as it wont go under the seat.

I've read that its best to get a PFL surround to better mount the new DD unit? is there a different product about other than the side trims to tidy up the fitment?

Thanks for your thoughts and help in advance  s:) :) s:)

There is a door speaker guide on here, will link it later

Other trim is easy, easiest car I've fitted a stereo to (except the hanging upside down holding an active subwoofer under the dash bit!)

DEADEN THE DOORS! Including sealing as many holes in the inner skin as possible

There's two easy grommets behind the battery, easiest power cable install ever!

Can't advise on HU as mine was already in

Get a subwoofer tucked up under the dash, above the pedals, makes a huge difference

Can I ask, is there DSP apps for EQ and time alignment available on the Android HU's?

Door Trims:

Front kick panel trim (by the pedals) has a plastic nut against the bulkhead. UNdo that, pull trim directly backwards to remove. It has a metal gripper on the A pillar weld seam.

Kick plate sill trim: Lift directly upwards from the inside edge, it liftes up and away and is clipped on grippers along the sill.

Rear Quarter trim: press the centres of the 2 poppers on the top of the trim piece, pull the trim directly towards the front of the car - it's mounted on 2 plastic clips upper and centre.

That gives you better access to the rear boxes. To remove them:

Take the cubby hole doors off by unscrewing the hinges.

Take the bins out: 4 bolts on the bottom, and lift up/out forwards.

None of it is hard, but if something isn't coming out it's because you've not undone a bolt/fasterner somewhere, or you're not pulling it in the right direction. Don't force it, you'll snap stuff.

The Head unit, you can't really short cut and it's not entirely obvious. I followed this guide and it's not at all hard, but again there's a lot of fiddly unscrewing/bolting.

I put GPS in mine, and you can mount the GPS receiver inside the dash (mine is just duck taped to the upper surface of an HVAC plastic box!) and GPS works fine from inside the dash. It's only looking through a few mm of plastic and a few mm of glass and my unit reports excellent signal and lots of satellites found. SAves having an ugly receiver stuck inside the windscreen/advertising that the car is all GPS'd up.

I would REALLY appreciate a How To on this.

Thanks everyone,  really helpful stuff. I hate stuff all over the dash so handy to know the GPS will operate from under it.

Just trying to decide on which front mount cam as I want at least 720p quality and they don't seem to be easy to find.
