Would value some input from anyone willing to contribute.
My current kenwood DD player has had it in the mr2 , usb no longer detects and CD's skip.
Plus since I fitted it I find the volume/track control useless! , changing tracks instead of volume , pressing instead of changing tracks etc.

does anyone have a recommend on a car audio , single or double size , with USB playback , that the volume control only does volume.

My previous car was LS400 , and this sort of thing didn't matter as it absorbed the bumps.

Would I be better making something myself? time consuming but something I could do.

Just fitted a Pioneer fh-x720bt in mine. There may be cheaper options if you don't want Bluetooth but it seems very nice. Only minor issue I have is pressing the volume knob in opens the settings menu and its quite easy to knock it when trying to adjust the volume, so it might not suit your purposes. Otherwise the controls are simple and well laid out.

I love pioneer stuff, the Pioneer-FH-P80BT was one of the best HU I listened to.
Pressing in isn't too much of a problem, the speed bumps & pot holes make hands mostly shake up down left right.
Has anyone done a radio fit under the dash flap - what is that for anyway?, I have tried searching but nothing , I guess maybe if I knew what it was called.

I did see on fleabay this and thought it nice how its similar black/white style matched the binnacles style.

edited to save info for myself.

The top of the dash can house a  '014-007-011     NAVI MONITOR COVER     ZZW30'
will take a 7" ws.

Sorted , Got a Sony BT/USB from halfords looks pretty good with the factory sony surround from PFL cars.
It has tons of stupid colours , but looks good with a dim pale white.
some good features - built in hpf/lpf , front or rears , option to use rear channel to power a sub.
volume knob is very useable going over the potholed Gloucestershire roads.

Fitted the mic in a switch blank , Works very well and no pulling loads of trim off. (drill 12mm hole , tiger seal in place).

fitted a under dash sub woofer. comes from a volvo v40 , includes an amp , and simply wired to cig lighter and l/r speakers , hung from dash bar using steel strips - zip tie to hold it up as I still have broken elbow issue.
If doing again would happily use the sub feature of the sony wx gt90bt, I didn't as assumed it would suck , it doesn't so I guess it might be about 15w(RMS) (50w/ch claimed).
Handy sized sub , the body control module needed a little bending to make sure it cleared , and the relay on the right needed moving forward but that was it.

also sound deadened the doors and fitted some JVC cheapies in which are pretty good.
