I am thinking of turning my rear window heater element into an antenna. also, there is connector (black and white wire), behind the removable side trim in the driver side cubby. can anyone confirm if it is cable for heated rear window.

Windscreen antenna only cost £15 without butchering car electrics. Easy to fit. Then put switch inline for the silly car aerial.

Also, if you connect your aerial into your rear windscreen how you gonna go on when hood is down.
🚘Just a pass time to break the monotony

Agree with you. Back to the drawing board for me. Will make one for windscreen. Will need to load it to half wave. Should be easy to conceal.

Antenna on back burner for now...I have a lot to learn about these cars. Trying to fit correct pins in stock h/u plug (6pin plug on harness, for rear speakers) is a real pita. Waited days, then got wrong size. Ordered mini pins,,,wrong size again. the one pin/contac(illumination wire), don't even look like typical iso pin,,,grrr..... driving me crackers,,,, Waiting for parrot harness now, so I can lop off the already wired plug. fingers crossed. May end up ordering from China. Proper hacked off. Hate car electrical stuff.  am I making this harder than it should be ?. stock radio is Toyota (matsushita) 58806.

So far,so good. Parrot harness arrived, cut plug off, connected rear speakers, job done, sounds pretty good. Now back to the antenna hack.
