Hi beautiful people. I am considering upgrading my standard radio to my 2002 mr2 mk3 to a screen with GPS, sat nav,  Bluetooth and all that stuff. I desperately need some suggestions as in what should I buy and is it easy to install? Also, I would appreciate if you could give me an idea of how I should handle the process as I'm new in this domain. Just bought the car. Love driving it but the stereo is a let down.
Thank you very much in advance.
PS: Sorry for my English. It's my second language:)

Yours sincerely,
Marius

If you want everything in one then an Android head unit is your best option. It's very low on the dash to use for satnav, personally I prefer to use my phone mounted higher up. I have a Pioneer Double-DIN unit with Bluetooth as the touch screen units are expensive and don't seem like good quality. The alternative is to make a custom mount for a tablet but that's a lot more work.

Installation is quite easy, there is a guide in the how-to section:  l viewtopic.php?f=47&t=12583 l

All you really need to do is take a few screws out. You will also need a PC2-17-4 wiring adapter.

What's your budget?

People are reporting good things about the double din Android head units yo ucan get from ebay - but I haven't used one and I'm loathed to recommend anything I haven't seen first hand, or also anything no-name and from china. £200 is still a lot of money if it turns out to be junk.

I have a Pioneer Sat nav/DVD player double DIN screen which came in the Corolla that donated it's heart to the MR2. It does everything I want, but Postcode input is clunky and inaccurate and actually, a touch screen isn't brilliant in a car. Simple things are hard and require eyes off the road. I like the way it looks, and I'm keeping it because sat nav built in is handy on occasion, but it's NOT worth the £600+ you'd pay for one new.

I'd suggest having a play with whatever units you can find on display at a Halfords or something. A Double DIN screen does look good in these cars, freshend up the centre console no end, but you need to check that whatever you buy actually does what you want and is easy to use.

Fitting them is simple, but you have to remove more trim than perhaps you were expecting including the gearstick surround ideally, the cup holder bit, plus the plastics around the 2 centre console support bars up each side. IT's easy if you take it slow and don't force anything. Wiring should be handled by a harness adaptor, Toyota to ISO, provided no previous owner has chopped your wiring about (unlikely if the standard stereo is there and works).
