I would like to think the tte turbo kits will continue to hold the money as they are a rare factory option, they may not be the quickest turbo kits available but in my opinion they have the right balance of power / torque and reliability.
Im also love the sound of the engine lid cooling fan that over runs when the engine is switched off haha

Tte or Sp for me. I don't really want any other kit. I like the fact they were a factory option and are rare and that people on here know about them.

Quote from: "1979scotte"I wouldnt part with mine anyway but would value it at 6.5-7k.
4k car with 3k mods.
I know thats not how it works but how many turbo cars come up for sale?
Do seem to have had a few more since matt "retired" and Steve has had 3 since ive been a member but i still think they are rare cars.

I have been lucky enough to have owned a number of turbo roadsters

TTE Turbo x 4
SP Turbo x 3
Apexi Turbo X1
Hass Turbo x1

For me the turbo makes the car something it should of been of the beginning, each of the kits make very different driving, of course drivablity would be down to the mapping in most cases.

Good cars don't often come up for sale but when they do they are snapped up quick.

The sp turbo kit was based on the tte kit but not factory fitted. In the early days SP modified the standard tte turbo kit like the silver one you wanted to view to increase power to around 230/240.
But once the tte kits were discontinued Matt produced a kit of similar spec which was called an sp turbo kit. Scottie has this fitted to his car currently. It came in low and high power low was 180/190 and high was 230 ish.

Quote from: "mikek"That was the problem it wasn't a 4k car. We paid 3k for the one we have and it has less miles and is in better condition for the same year (03) and came with a hard top and gb body kit. I will just have to wait until one comes up that's worth the money. I don't mind paying top money for a top car but that one  was over priced. Somebody will sell one at some point......Hopefully!
If you have a car you know and love, why not get the turbo bits and fit yourself? The best option in my opinion as then you know it was a good car to start with and you know exactly what went into it.

You could cobble one together yourself.
We know the turbo that is used in the tte kit.
Ardent knows how to get hold of a replica intercooler.
The rest is just plumbing and a piggy back ecu.
A recon turbo is only 400 quid too.
Hardest thing could be getting hold of a decent cast manifold.
Plenty out there on ebay etc but no idea if they are any good.
You could even take it to redline tunning for mapping.
Same people that mapped the sp kits.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Might be an option to buy a good car and build my own turbo with the help of you guys.

i bought the t3 flanged ebay manifold (£140 delivered including taxes)
its a very well made part but it comes with holes drilled to suit both the 1zz and 2zz so ideally the ports need to be taken out to your application

I've bought what i hope is a good car and i think i am going to have a go at putting a turbo system together or buy a kit.

Has anyone used the Turbokits.com black label fabrication kit? Any good

Is anyone using water injection as a means of cooling? Any good?

What turbo does the TTE or SP use?

Where did the reconditioned one for £400 come from?

Is anyone using a recirculating BOV? Any good? Which one?

Can anyone recommend an off the shelf kit or supplier?

Thanks for the help, i have never modified a car before so i am doing alot of reading and trying to gather as much information as possible. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The rest will be answered soon but water meth injection is not a good replacement. Unless you want to carry around another fuel tank full of water/meth mixture.
It's handy as an extra. For example if you have a selectable map on your ecu and one of them is a "meth" map with some further advanced timing. You'd use the meth to reduce temps a bit and  prevent detonation.
Or maybe as a full throttle option, again with a map where timing is heavily advanced at a certain load level, have water/meth spray then as well and not for the rest of the map

As a replacement... No.
...neutiquam erro.

Stage 2 aem go's on boost and you can set the start and full whack boost pressures. You also need to use the right injector nozzle. But as shnaz said it's something to add if your going mad. Stick to the basics and get a gt25/28 and run around 8psi with a chargecooler system and you will be fine on a stock engine. Injector size look for 440cc as a good size for upto 240bhp. Also don't forget an ecu and mapping.

First off pick your manfold. That determins what flange you have and from there pick your turbo.
You dont want the t2559???? from the SP TTE turbo. Its a bit old hat and is a saab specific jobby.
A garrett gt25 or 28 would be fine or Mitsubishi TD04 are plentiful.
You want either an intercooler of charge cooler. TTE SP went for intercoolers most but not all custom guys seem to go charge cooler.
They have there pros and cons.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
