Recently took a trip to Lancaster and back and found myself wishing for a better stereo. It might even be broken, every car I've ever been in or driven has had better sound quality. Anyway, I think replacing the speakers is a good start and am looking for speakers around £50 but I'd stretch upto a £100 for a good set. So really, I have two questions. What are some good speakers between £50 and £100 and is this the way to get a decent sounding stereo in an MR2?

The roof is down on my MR2,
And I\'m grinning, grinning ear to ear!

As above, if £100 is the max, allow some of that budget towards deadening the doors

You need enough to coat about half the outer door skin (that's the inside of the exterior door panel) and enough to cover the holes in the inner door skin (that's the inner sheet metal of the door. If you can grab some sticky backed foam (should be Closed Cell Foam, to avoid soaking up water) that can go between the inner door skin and the plastic door card to prevent rattles.

Grab a set of these Pioneer components (tsa1604) as they'll run easily off a head unit and the tweeters fit easily, destroy the OEM woofers to use the outer ring as a spacer...

...and away you go!

Will make a huge difference, as will an aftermarket head unit...

...and then an underdash subwoofer!!!

I used silent coat sheets to soundproof my car recently and I am very happy with the result. They were a different size to the ones you link to though.
I have some spare sheets (187x265) which I was planning to sell at Ding Day for £1.50 per sheet if you can wait until then? I used flashing tape on my doors which also works but it doesnt have the aluminium top coat that these do.

I'll measure the door cards and see how many sheets I need when I collect the car from the garage later today, what's Ding Day?

Ding day is our annual get together/national meet with people travelling the length of the country to attend.

If you only come to one event, this is the one and only 2 weeks away!
