I have a box of the adhesive (butyl ?) backed foil sound deadening stuff, but not sure where best to put it. My carpet is completely stripped out so it can go wherever necessary. But no point in going daft with it as it's heavy stuff. The door cards are still in at the moment. They'll be coming out at a later date.
Does anyone have any pics of successful locations?

I put it on the insides of my doors, mostly on both sides of the inside metal cavity. There's some holes you can get your hand/arm inside. Hard to make a neat job of it in there though. I have some overlapping strips etc but you can barely see it, even with the plastic door car trim off.

There's a pic on my speakers thread but you can't really see it as it's all inside

I pretty much covered everything on the doors and door cards.

When I did the floor and firewall though I only did small pieces in the centre of the panels to save weight and material as I had read that you get diminishing returns the more you do. I tapped the panels with a knuckle and the ones the made the most sound were the priority.

The floor stuff really did make a difference too.

Thanks, did you use the same stuff on the floor?

I used wickes flashing tape on the doors but did the floor etc a couple of years later and used proper silent coat sheets on them which has the alloy? top coat to brace things more than just the bitumen layer.
