What a bummer!
Harness does seem suspect. Unless other sensors aren't happy. Such as crank. I'm assuming that came with the new block?
...neutiquam erro.

Feel for you mate :( But you:ll get there

My top tip is don't rush it. If it takes another day to be sure it's all done right then so be it.

Stag

Getting fed up now... Loom swapped, throttle body, and throttle body sensors swapped, Crank sensor swapped, maf swapped. Still the same problem. What else can I do

jonbill

Do you have life at your obd reader, or still "link error"?

Chilli Girl

Ex owners of Chilli red facelift 52 reg called Chilli, silver 55 reg called Foxy and blue pfl W reg MR-S called Sapphire. Now 2 less!

It starts to scan gets halfway through the scan, scans the ISO 9141 protocol then I get a link error message

Carolyn

This is getting annoying.

We're missing something obvious....

What?

Crap in the fuel line?

The Maf tells it how much fuel to give it.  If it's not the maf.....

I hate to keep advising you to do stuff, when I don't know what's going on.

I wish I had it in front of me.

Its got a brand new fuel link in, Was one of the first things I did. But as when you unplug the maf it revs up to 3k freely with no lag that would not point towards dirt in fuel line right ?

Stag

@Carolyn If you were here it would have been sorted a week ago ): @shnazzle any ideas ?

Carolyn

I'm going to sleep on it....

We'll kick ourselves....

RIGHTTTTT another update, Something has changed. Now when I unplug the maf It revs freely all the way up to the limiter with no lag at all.

I'm quite stumped.

Technically next on the list is ecu but that's one part that wasn't moved! So that can't be it.
Fuel system does indeed seem like a good one.
Logic being that fuel table might be a lot leaner than what maf flow is telling it to do. So, without maf I can flow enough for a lean 3k. But with maf, it overfuels (remembering the aftermarket intake) and it doesn't get enough fuel. Bogs down

BTW, very impressive speed of working here.

While you're doing lots of stuff and doing it so quickly, do you have the stock intake you could put on?
...neutiquam erro.

Ok so changing the loom has had some effect.

Try putting your old maf back in??

give me 3 mins

Stag

Sorry for the wait, had to play the game off where did I place the old sensor.

Still the same, and now when I remove the maf sensor it won't rev up to full revs again ):

Carolyn

Have you reset the ecu in the last day?

Engine wont start at all now, turns over but makes some nasty noise. Feel like the engines now gone

Carolyn

Try charging the battery.

You've done a lot of starting.

removed the plugs, It turns over nicely when they are not in, all of the pistons go up and down in sequence. that means the engines not just gone right? Someone reassure me im not back to square one again.

the battery on charge now, I dont get whats changed. Seemed like we made a breakthrough changing the harness. When it would rev all the way to the limiter and back.

Once I put the plugs back in and tried to start it there was a loud bang, 90% sure it was a backfire from the built-up fuel from when I turned it over with the plugs out right?

Sorry, I must have skipped over this, Thank you. Im still learning but im pretty speedy with my hands. I do have the old intake kicking about somewhere I think, What would changing it do, cheers.

It's just clutching at straws. But I know what a difference it makes to fueling between aftermarket intakes and the stock. So just to give the car the best shot...

Get the battery voltage back up.  Then go from there.

Low volts will make sparks struggle....
