In my mind it doesn't make sense because to use it you have to go into very high revs otherwise you've wasted all that money cause you basically still have 1zz like you said.

Good point.
You would lóve CAP´s MAF mod I think. Cheap extra mid range grunt. Better than a cam change, go figure!

In corners sure, but a hill? That's where the malnourished engine shows it's weakness. I've got lots of hills around here with steep ascends and sharp corners and more grunt wouldn't go amiss.

Up a climb power and weight are just about interchangeable. More power, less weight, equal faster climb. Hence my topic opener.  I say; yes, sómetimes.... and that was up a climb.

Adding corners things change, uphill too.
Up the Zafarraya pass there is no lack of power: The exit of one corner is the entry of the next and the 1ZZ has enough for the limits of the AD08Rs through them.

When the straight bits between the corners get longer it is when you can use extra grunt. It only makes you faster when it is not equaled by extra weight. Well and the next corner... any extra weight will make you slower.
It touches rather fundamentally upon the essence of a car.

All in all I agree with the design team of our runabout: that less is more even though sómetimes lardy powerhouses leave you for dead.

My 2 is a second car, purchased for a bit of top down summer fun, I researched the car quite a bit and power wasnt top of the list, because, well, it aint got much, its nippy and nimble and ticked the right boxes for me, as for overtakes, use the gearbox properly, I've not had any problems getting past folk

Nope. It's actually a welcome change jumping into the mr2 as it forces you to drive properly, anticipate and maintain momentum. I find daily driving a well insulated diesel removes you from that too much.

Adhering to sod´s law there is a direct relation between straight bits and number of speed traps.

Just went down and south to the coast. Took the mainly straight highway; enjoying the sun in my face. At least 5 speed traps (the fixed ones) over some 35 kms. Two of which 80 km/h zone control.
