I know we generally don't bother much with these, but as I have the uprights/hubs off the car, any suggestions on where to these find for not-silly price?

red 2003 standard so far

The yellowstuff pads I got came with some, although they are plastic ones rather than metal.

I'm guessing you already have pads though :)

I like the idea of plastic ones!  Got a link, please, Mark?

Possibly worth checking on the EBC site that the model numbers match up.

Also, ignore the images on the eBay listings as in most cases they are a stock image and don't resemble the ones you'll receive.

Very happy with these pads on mine. Finally got rid of the squeal!

I presume you mean the disc backplate/shields as below ?  not the pad shims some are recommending on here, TCB best probably for the backplates, if it is pad shims i might have some let me know i will have a look a hunt :)

Ex-2005 roadster  owner, i will be back :D

Has anyone  changed the  disc backplate/shields without ripping everything apart. Liked the idea of changing them as they are rusted and it would seem to be easy to cut thru the little bit a metal at the bottom, make a gap and push over the shaft.

Yes.  Mine needed cleaned-up & paint but were still sound.

I got the genuine Toyota back plates from Paul at TCB, great price and fast delivery.

Got mine powdered coated (black) before fitting as the standard factory paint is straight onto bare metal and won't stand up to our road conditions and weather for very long.

Is this one of those jobs. Good idea to do if already working in that area. But a lot of work just to do on their own.

It's a hub-off jobbie isn't it? And that's no fun in the best of times
...neutiquam erro.

Moving on. Nothing to see. Very back of burner.

Well that's a silly place to put them :)

Call the midlife!

You'd think it wouldn't take much to cut a replacement set into two halves with a small backing plate screwed in place once fitted?
Anyone with the basic tools or additionally a welder to maybe weld the plate to one half should be able to have a go.
If I ever look at replacing mine I'll look more closely at how they're installed.
60% of the time it works everytime...

Yes it is. An idea that goes well with the oil holes in the pistons.
