Thought I'd update this - https://www.mr2roc.org/index.php?topic=73634.0

On 7th April this year it all went pear shaped. A twat in a Merc failed to give way at a cross roads late at night (around 11pm) where I had priority on an A road d/c. Booted it straight across in front of me. No chance to avoid a collision and my car T-boned his rear n/s door. Result: one written off Mk3. :(  >:(

Bad enough but on the 16th I was due to depart for the Highlands for a MR2OC 4 day tour. My Mk2 turbo was being worked on and wouldn't be ready in time. Accommodation was all already booked and too late to cancel. Feck!

The following day (8th) I mentioned my predicament to a fellow (MR2OC) owner I've known for years. The same day he sent me a link to a For Sale ad on Cars and Classics.

Got in touch with the seller and travelled by train to Cheshire that weekend (11th). Deal concluded and drove back to Kent in a 2 owner, 36k miles. Sable facelift (04 plate).

What threatened to be a disaster had just evaporated. The icing on the cake was the crash was captured by CCTV which was provided to my insurer. 3rd party bang to rights. No fault claim and the settlement cheque arrived at the end of the month.

Sometimes, life deals you a winning hand. ;D

:) some time in life with all against us and with cars especially can be written off so easily theses days.
we have to remember  they are replicable we humans are not.

then after the shock and change circumstances we move on with a outcome that can surprise us for the better 8)

Nice ending to the story and it sounds like nobody was hurt, except for the MR2 🫩.

Hopefully it was repaired or broken for bits to help others live on.

Thankfully no injuries to anyone. I was just a bit discombobulated having received a faceful of airbag. The triumvirate of emergency services subsequently arrived though. Police, ambulance, and a fire engine. The only one absent for a full house was a HEMS 'copter!

It was a Cat S but the VRM is no longer live on the DVLA database so it hasn't been repaired. I've no idea whether it became a parts donor. My last sight of her was at the recovery yard as I needed to retrive some posessions I had forgotten to remove before her final journey on the back of a truck.

The current ride in her natural habitat. Bonus points if you can identify the location.  ;D
