Help !!!!

I thought I would have a nice easy day fitting a set of TTE lowered springs, Goodridge hoses and repainting the calipers. So much for the plans of mice and men

I am stuck on the removal of the say bar links on the rear of the car. I expected to find either a slotted groove for a spanner on one side and a nut on the other. Well I have the nut just not slot and the swines just keep on spinning  s:) :) s:)

I'm loathed to use mole grips or such like as I don't want to screw up the part (especially as I need it for work monday)

Any ideas ? what am I missing (other than a Mr T service guide)

on teh back of teh ball joint (as your looking at it from the wheel side) is an allen key socket.

you will need a ring spanner to allow the allen keyto stay in place and prevent it from turning.

this is where a ratchet spanner will be your best freind.

ok knuckles skinned and bolts made of tin not steel. The only way those are coming off is with an angle grinder  s:( :( s:(  Winter salt and english weather are not kind to cars.

Any one got a supply of sway links  s:) :) s:)

what was your problem?

I couldn't get a 5mm allen key into the bolt, so ended up with an imperial set instead, those sizes worked well, and there's one there equiv to 4.76mm, which fits just great.

Also, try applying some leverage to push down on the sway bar, as you loosen the bolt.  You'll probably need someone else to help, with a broom handle or breaker bar or similar.

Thanks Phil will try that next time, but for now I have had to conceed and put the car back together with only the Goodridge fitted. One out of three not bad I suppose. Will have another go next weekend.

Did try something whilst apart though and that was to paint the inner part of one of my rusty discs with hammerite metal paint. Will wait and see if it flakes off

After the 2nd round of skinned knuckles I have now parted with the cash for a new set of sway links. At £70 for the pair I for one know that these will be assembled with copper grease on the thread.

I'm sure that someone out there must be able to make these with rose joints etc.
