As it says in the title really, the original speaker cable has one blue wire and one green and I need to know which is +ve and which is -ve.

Will it damage the speakers if I guess?

According to the Electrical Wiring Diagram on a 2002 in the US (and I don't know if that makes any difference):
FrontRight+ is Light Green
FrontRight- is Blue
FrontLeft+ is Pink
FrontLeft- is Violet

As the earlier post stated, this is also for the US model, but contains a bit more info good for alarm, etc.  The formating is poor as I don't know how to space text on the forum.  If you copy to another file and put in tabs at the vertical lines it should make more sense.

Anyway, this is for the 2000 - 2002 MR-2

Notes:
NOTE: Some models have an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed during remote start.
Use DEI module 555F or 555U to bypass.  *1 Requires a double pulse for unlock.
Using the same color wire in the passengers kick only requires a single pulse.
*2 Drivers door is red or red/white in the drivers kick panel.
Passenger door trigger is red/white in the passenger kick panel.
Use both wires and diode isolate each.

******************

Also, no damage will be done to the speakers if the +/- wires are interchanged, what will happen though is the sound will be out of phase with some cancellation and improper stereo image.  If you're really concerned you can touch a 1.5V battery (like a AA battery in US terms) across the leads to the door speaker (not the tweeter - it can be damaged) and see which way the cone moves, check the other side as well, wire them so they push or pull the same with same battery orientation, and you can then be assured of correct polarity.
