Clutch pedal is squeeking!

The fact that I did a search but didn't find anything relevant worries me a bit...

There is a squeek every time I press the clutch pedal; is it a case of WD40 or something more serious?  The squeeky sound appears to be coming from the pedal itself although this might be misleading...

Has anyone come across this before?

happened to me 2 weeks after I got my MR-S. The mechanic put some grease or lubricant, and here you go.....

Have someone play with the pedal and listen if you hear the squeek in the engine bay. If you do, that'll probably go away with a new bearing.

If you can't hear a thing in the engine bay, then just grease the pedal  s8) 8) s8)

Thanks for your replies guys, much appreciated.

I played with it yesterday night and I think I could hear it coming from underneath the car - is that possible or is it my imagination?  I will grease the pedal this weekend to see if it will go away...  Fingers crossed...

One thing I noticed this morning is that it's not consistent.  It didn't squeek for the first 5-or-so miles then it was there for another 10 miles and then it went away (its a 30 mile drive with plenty of traffic lights and roundabouts).  When I parked the car the squeek appeared again   s:? :? s:?

I'm afraid it's possible  s:? :? s:?

When you work the pedal, keeping the door open, it kinda sounds like it's coming from under the car if it's the clutch itself, not the pedal. After all the clutch kinda is under the car (at least it's the easy route for the sound).

Mine does that sound since a few years;when you open the door and depress the clutch pedal, the sound seems to come from under the car.  It does go away after about 20 miles, when everything is fully warmed up.
They investigated it a few times, and since I was told it is a LOT of work to solve (and I have no warranty left), I just learned to live with it...   s:roll:  s:roll:

Tem, that's exactly what I did!  Kept the door open while toyed with the clutch pedal and the noise appeared to be coming from underneath!

fstsven, what do you mean "a lot of work"?  Surely, the worst case scenario is changing the clutch, right?  There is nothing wrong with the clutch or the pedal, just the annoying noise.  May I ask how old was your car when it appeared?

My car run out of warranty a couple of months ago, dammit.

That IS a lot of work  s:? :? s:?

I'm not sure which of the BGB stuff is mandatory, but according to it you're basically first removing all the external connections to gearbox and clutch, then removing this and that from the engine and basically removing the engine. Not out of the car though, just hanging it in the car. After that you have to remove both drive shafts before you even get to removing the gearbox. After that you can start working on the clutch  s:? :? s:?
