One problem less leading to one more

or; manmath continued.

Ok, so I live in a country with cunty regulations concerning mods.
Basically no deviation from the homologation specs is allowed, not even hard brake lines.
The result is that whatever I do must be invisible or easy to put back before (and after) periodic inspection.

Even though last time they did not even open the engine room, this means no supercharging bar the TTE. That one however is not really an option for various reasons. So permanently more horses ready to bolt is not an option.

Because just about all of the time the engine propels the car quite quick enough, every now and then some extra on tap woúld come in hande. Like to overtake a lardy slow cornering car with lots of oomph.
Ever since I have had the car I have thus thought of nitrous oxide  :-*

I have also always pushed the idea back for various reasons:
- expensive in use
- not that safe
- not that fool proof
- not that reliable tech
- no source for a refill

Last week received an email from a Portugese tuner and his offer is tempting. It means a 5kg system installed, extra bottle, both charged, all in for under 1k € and little hassle recharges. Easy jetting for 25 - 50 - 75 hp.

I have 1k budget for lighter bonnet&rear deck or this and the former is not likely to materialise for that money.
I do lóve the idea of extra overtaking oompf literally on tap and I reallyréally miss the butane botle system I had on the previous car.
I unlove the stuff and rather low tech of it. Mind; the simplicity I adóre but not the undeveloped HeathRobinson of it.

 :o  :o  :o  :o

Maybe best sit in a corner and wait till it passes.... O:-)

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

All is relative; it weighs as much as the airco pump so could do a swap. Also used to have one of these in the back:

Puts the added risk in perspective too doesn´t it   ;-)

If you must, and I can understand with your national regulations, please put the bottle in the frunk?

It´s an ideal location for fitting the bottle oriented idealy too.
Lead underneath the car and with a provision for remote bottle opening. Pondering on that.  Not keen on having the lead live all the time. Still have the solenoid I used for the bl@@dy big gas bottle sómewhere.

Not a done deal though Carolyn. Want to tap the gasoline off at the push on quick connect at the fuel rail like

and to my surprise it is not that a common thing. Seems an obvious and reliable thing to do unlike the T-fittings I encounter all over.

Just realised that without the wheel bucket, the bottle mounted directly behind the radiator makes it heated ;-)

At 36 degrees C, N2O becomes a super critical fluid, which can behave very unpredictably. Very complex and potentially dangerous territory.

Have you thought about how you're going to purge the line quickly?

Yes.

Unfortunately there is no disagreeing.

Better be more unpredictable still ;-)

Just ordered low/flat profile windscreen wipers and have the bridge to fit the lower arm braces wednesday morning.
Maybe taking the airco pump off; that will scratch the itch for a while I hope. I expect my reluctance to add weight combined with the downsides will outweigh the fun of the push of the button double meaning.
