I'm not sure there is a problem, having just checked mine, operates the same. Dead center nothing, or at least only with light pressure, same pressure on the peripheral 3 spokes. Beep.

Edit.
The pad is secured by 2 torx type screws/bolts.

Just as a word of caution. This forms part of the supplemental restraint system. Best to follow the correct process to avoid inadvertent deployment of the air bag.

I had my steering wheel leather covered and refitted a few weeks ago. I have just noticed the horn isn't working properly. Yes should have tested it at the time but didn't think about it. If I press the horn push square on in the centre it does nothing. If I press it around the edge of the airbag cover it works. I want to correct it before the MOT but taking it back to where it was done is not just 10 miles down the road.

How does the boss cover come off?
What would be causing it to not work across the whole range?

We ALL have days where we cannot find stuffs. No need to judge ourselves too harshly.
Well done for having the humility to ask for help and getting the right result for both you and our potential new member.

@Joesson great find! 😁

@househead Off topic, but I'd be really interested to hear your back to back experiences of Tein Vs Eibach springs. I'm on Teins and an extra 5mm of clearance would make a massive difference to me.

Well flyer delivered to owner by hand. A nice polite young guy, probably wasn't even born when Chilli was first built :o . I said to him sensible thing to stick it in first when you park up particularly on this hill. He agreed & knew of the dodgy handbrake. He thanked me very much for the flyer & off I continued on my dog walk. ;D

I've trimmed the fronts 20mm from the fat end, and I've installed them the other way up from the photo above. Does orientation matter? Can't see it mattering much ... the strength of the forces from each side might differ but it's getting squished (shrug).

The rears I have also trimmed a similar 20mm off the thinner end. One nobble. Orientation as per the photo above.

The Tein springs (being taken off) apparently lower the front by a further 4-5mm than the Eibach springs I am installing.

I have another set of unbattered stops for front and back so can always adapt in future. Will see how I get on with it for now. Thx for everybody's input, much appreciated as always.

The Tein instruction recommends cutting the front bump stops .8 inch or 20 mm, and no change to the rear.  This is for OEM bump stops.  Yours do not appear OEM, but I would cut from the bottom of the stop as oriented in your pictures.  The OEM bump stop has a groove for the boot, and I cut just below the groove, which is closer to 1" (25 mm) removed.  I do not have the measurement after cutting.

We ran Tein springs for awhile and found if you don't cut the front stop, the shock is almost touching the stop with a static load, and almost any bump will be using the very stiff bump stop. It is fairly rare to hit the bump stop very hard after it has been cut.  This also works for other similar lowering springs like H&R.

It is very confusing! You end up having to go with your gut feeling.

I trimmed my front ones down at the thin end but did not trim the rear.

The downside of trimming the thin end is that you take off the softest part which would make them more progressive if left. I did trim this end to leave more "meat" in the stops though (hence the gut feeling!). If you dont trim the front, the car will be on the bumpstop most of the time which didnt seem right to me.

PS Mr2 Ben sell parts from other cars that they know fit the 2 but dont tell you that so they can look different!
