Greg is a racing car tuner.  It's best to ask him to get the idle and low rpm stuff as good as possible for driveability.  He tends to concentrate on high rpm and peak power.

Food, drink, ear defenders, your phone will likely do for any photos you would like.

a limit on the card

Wear your brown pants for the drive home.

Make sure your recovery policy is up to date, mine was practically undrivable on the way home 😂

Got it - I'm hoping that by this point he'll have a lot of previous maps to draw from that will help this matter..

I'm using a trailer incase something goes hideously wrong... :-)

Interestingly no-one is suggesting things like extra bits to bring incase something breaks..

That twitches my cynical side I'm afraid, although hopefully the tuner comes with some trusted references.

Yeah.. it's not a great situation to walk into. Ultimately if I turn up and point blank ask for an estimate before we start as well as an approximate rate per hour if that's what he works to and I can't get an answer that's decent I turn around and go home.

I think that is more than reasonable on your part.
With any amount of experience a service provider must be aware of the costs that must be recovered per hour to keep the business viable. That same experience should make him aware of the minimum time he will take to achieve a result and similarly the worst case situation a maximum (to date).
An estimate could be between those figures with a stated hourly rate.
Or, it may be that only one operation can be carried out per day and so be it a short day or a long day a full day is what is charged.

Last tuning session I had elsewhere was around £450 for the half day, flat fee quoted upfront.
