Rough Engine

After some assistance here guys and general thoughts on what my engine issue could be.

Over the last couple of days the engine has been getting rougher at higher revs to the point that I drove home tonight not exceeding 4000. Now I had checked the air filter at lunch time as the car is due up a service and it was pretty grotty. I collected a new filter and a set of plugs on the way home and have duly fitted these. I also reset the ecu for at least 3/4 hour just in case but after finishing and going for the usual test drive the car although feels a bit better it still has a rough edge at higher revs.

To me it feels as if the engine is restricted in some way either by intake or exhaust. With the exhaust in mind I also purchased some exhaust gaskets and will checking the pre cats in the morning (too damn cold now  s:) s:)  ) So either way they are coming out. It makes sense to me that if part of the pre cat has fallen it could block the exhaust, but I will not know untill the morning.

The only other thing I could think of was either dirty MAF which looked ok or a dodgy injector

Any suggestions ?

Oh and it isn't burning oil either as I checked it yesterday and this evening and is the same and thats after a 120 miles

when my precats collapsed, they blocked the main cat. The car felt just fine in lower revs, but refused to rev past 4000rpm or so and wouldn't go past about 60mph.

Why don't you just check the precats before you continue to drive more?  s:? :? s:?

MAF Mate, possibly Dirty or Broken.

Because the mixture is all wrong (Lean normally) you really struggle to get the car past 4000 rpm and it feels a wet as a lettace.

Either try cleaning or get a replacement, then it should be right as rain.
