Exhaust heat shield

Hi guys, can the heat shield directly above the exhaust in the engine bay be removed without causing any problems? I just reckon it would look nicer if you could see my shiny chrome exhaust instead of the rusty black shield that's in front of it at the moment when you open the boot.

You can take it off without any worries: I've had mine off for ages, and even with the additional heat of the Hass turbo I've had no problems.

Be carefull with the top two bolts - they could be banana shaped and therefore a pig to get out.

One thing, here.. Slurpy - do you mean the giant black flat heatshield (between the rear crossmember and the bumper bar), or the one on the exhaust manifolds?

Folks seem to think you mean the one over the manifolds, but to my mind you were thinking about the other..

Yeah I was talking about the big black one too!

Although, I didnt take it off because it all got too complicated and too cold outside. I thought there were just two easy bolts, but on closer inspection, I discovered the shield runs down parallel with the exhaust and there is a smaller bolt beneath the left rear light cluster which I couldnt (be arsed to) reach..

GAH!

follow these instructions to remove the bumper then its an easy job
