Wondered if anyone can help. I'm having problems getting into my 2, its happened twice now, walked up to car and bushed the button, car didn't unlock, the wee red light on the key fob blinked rabidly at me. The first time it happened I put it down to the key battery, but its just happened again, this time with the new key I got from Mr T only last week

Also does anyone know how to override the alarm with just the key?
I'm in the office just now so don't have my manual to hand!!

Any suggestions?

I had this and replaced the battery and it has worked first time every time since then.

It could be the key Mr T gave you didnt have a great battery either. Do you find sometimes it works fine and other times it doesnt?

I'd suggest replacing the battery and if not, when it is working, unlock and lock the vehicle several times in a row to help resynchronise the code system.

If you just unlock the door with the key, won't this disable all the alarms?

Not sure on the 2, but it did definitely does on the Mondeo.

Or the other apathetic alternative is just use the key anyway.   s:wink:  s:wink:

I understood that unlocking the car manually with the key won't disable the alarm but putting it in the ignition will?

Every now and then one of my keys won't get a response. I normally just go and get the other one and that unlocks first time.

tried opening and starting car with just the key, ended up with car runing and alarm sounding!
Will try new battery see what that does!

Happened to me, so called AA man out.
He had an RF (Radio Frequency) detector which showed lots of transmission going on, he guessed it was probably neighbours wireless doorbell!!!

I unlocked the car with the key, opened the door and the alarm went off. I drove around the corner (the key has immobiliser in it) and the key fob started working again.

Hope this helps.
