electric ariel

My ariel suffers from a permanent erection.   s:shock: :shock: s:shock:  

Having spent a few days making an unusually loud noise when motoring up & down it is now locked in the 'useful but unsightly' position. There continues to be a motor of some sort whirring when the key comes out, but with no effect.

Anyone got a remedy please?

I have this as well, last weekend i took the ariel out and dismantled it. inside there is a coiled up piece of plastic with teeth like a cog on it. on mine this has snapped and it sounds like the same has happened on yours. i havnt been to mrT yet to see if i can buy this part though i hope so as its about £100 for a new ariel  s:? :? s:?

ps if you give it nudge when you turn off the engine (when it would usually go down) it will probably retract then when you turn on the engine it will go up part way. again if you give it a pull it will come up all the way

you can buy it for the celica so i'd have thought you can for the 2

I also have the same problem, I took mine to the local garage and was also told £100 for the aerial then fiiting on top of that.
