Under bumper covering

Hi guys,

Quickie for you... on the front passenger side wheel arch, the plastic covering that coats the underside of the wheel arch has popped away and split so it cant be put back into place with the plastic tab. I need to get it replaced as it's just hanging down slightly and rubbing now every time I turn right and the car leans slightly.

My question is, can anyone see any reason why I shouldn't, for the time being until it's replaced, cut it back so that there is clearance under that arch? As far as I can tell, it'll just mean the rear of my front bumper will get dirty... any thoughts?

I wouldn't use the car for too long without that, I'd be afraid some moisture find a resting place in there...

Actually I "won't" drive like that for too long since a truck blew a tyre under my wheels last monday, tyre bits broke the front bumper and tear the plastic you're talking about apart... among other things.

It doesn't seem too expensive (Mr T said it's less than £300 to change and paint the bumper plus the other things...).
