Before you say it - yes I know the 'Search button is my friend'

but there were only a couple of threads talking about this.... but as usual, I need help / advice.

When I had my bodykit fitted last week, I noticed the front passengers side brake disk was really scored.  Further inspection, found that I have no pad left on there !!!

Ok - decided I needed new brake disks and pads on the front deffo.

Been ringing around this morning, and got the following :

Toyota

Front Disks + Pads - parts only £192.92 (ouch, more than the TSport 190) !!

National - wanted to beat Toyota - i fibbed and said included fitting, so they were going to do it for £185.00 ( still ouch !! )

Kwik Fit - useless, couldnt tell whether they could supply them or not - 'Never had one of those in here' !!!! Oh please !!!!

10 Ten Motor Factors - BARGAIN !!!! £71.83 all in (parts only) mate is going to fit them on the weekend.

Right, next problem............... Rear disks - I cannot find them anywhere, apart from one place locally called Foreign Motor Parts, and they want £68 each + VAT pads come in at £17.28 inc vat - so pads are fine.

Tried 10 - Ten Motor factors again, but they are still £64 there.

Anyone know where I can source some cheaper rear disks from ??

Thanks

Gen toyota

After reading previous threads on brakes, I agree, the 'standard' set up is good enough for me, I have no problem with braking or the performance on this car.  I checked with the supplier that these are genuine toyota parts, and not from a 3rd party manufacturer.

Thanks KJ - i saw those, and am interested, only question i have on these, is obviously i have now purchased the toyota gen parts for front - disks and pads, and i think that its probably best to stick with 'same make' all round ?

Correct me if im wrong anyone, as when it comes to brakes, im clueless.

Just my 2p - I'd go with the same compound all around to avoid moving the brake bias around - especially important if you enjoy a blast down backroads.

Toyota tend to bespoke formulate / specify their pads - there isn't an equivalent pad compound aftermarket  pad for the Mk1 or Mk2 either - plenty of parts which fit, but with different compounds - (IMO steer well clear of cheap Kevlar pads.)

FWIW - on my Mk2 Turbo I used to use Pagid Fast Road pads which worked well, and the feel of the pads in the Roadster is similar - once the pads are warm, the brakes feel sharper.

The pads currently in my Roadster were fitted about 15k miles ago and have done a few days at the Nurburgring, Elvington, Bruntingthorpe and a couple of Anglesey trackdays. I checked them recently, and they've still got about 50% of the pad left which is impressive.

Personally, I'll be buying another set of standard pads when these are finished.
Chargecooled PE Turbo, Unichip, TRD Front brace, Corky's Breastplate, Tein SS springs.
