Long saga this I need advice, had the car since 18/2  been on road for 5 weeks with it as it went back to dealear on a new roof problem. Then experienced the coil/plug problems to be told that after 46 miles of diving handbrake is not working correctly. Now had the car test on rolling road brake tester to find that one side the n/s is not working at all and even the cable is not moving. I have asked Toyota if this is covered by warranty they can't answer without them checking with dealer. Has any one had experience of a handbrake not working on one side due to a component failure rather than just adjustment. It hards for me to see how such a car can have had a full service, mot drive some 1800 miles  have a dealers safety check then 46 miles later the hard brake not work at all on one side. Buying this car was supposed to be stress free its far from that and  after paying a lot of money!!!!!

Yep, it's happened over the other side of the pond, at least:

(complete with pics of the fault)

The cable certainly should be covered by warranty, it's not a consumable part like pads or discs, so they can't use that out.

Cheers for that, just so stressed here and the dealers statement what do I want to do about it? Seems friction material and consumables are a get out on warranty claims I had not taken into account when I brought an approved used car!!!!!!

At least I armed now as until a few weeks ago I hadnt a clue on the internals of an MR2 mastered the roof, engine waterproofing and spark plugs to date now!!!!

Being armed is half the challenge  s:) :) s:)  Dev (the author of the thread I linked to) has had a few problems with the rear brakes specifically, so there's some useful info there to batter the dealer over the head with  s;) ;) s;)

I must admit, 'Approved Used' seems to mean zip these days..
