Is this normal? I've just had the Che manifold fitted and an Apexi and I have the TTE exhaust. Since i had the manifold fitted I've noticed, when the engine is slightly cold and I'm pulling away quickly, that going from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd causes a pop from the exhaust and a slight, but not huge lurch from the car... my brothers Tuscan used to burble and pop from the exhaust when he was acclerating quickly, even flame a little, but I didnt know whether this was something that's fine on the MR2?

Its fine...and fun...I had the H & S, A'PEXi and gutted manifolds and loved the popping noises, all perfectly normal....enjoy.

Phew, splendid! I must admit, I'm fond of it too, just didnt want it to be detremental to the engine..

Does it pop when you are exhausting down a hill in say second or third?

If so my experience is it is a leak somewhere which is drawing air in.

Just going off topic a little  s:oops:  s:oops:   what was the quality like on the Che, was the manifold facing smooth, did they smooth the welds on the internal joints - to give a smooth gas flow.

I did see a manifold which was supplied to Rogue, via China, the manifold face was very uneven and also it had cracks in it.

Thanks

FGRob is right, sometimes this identifies a leak in the exhaust system

Hmm if it a slight leak in the system, is this really bad, or will it just pop every now and again and not cause any damage?

It tends to happen if the engine is cold and I floor it, or if I'm coming off the gas approaching a junction and the revs are dropping, like changing down from 3rd to 2nd then dropping, it'll pop and gargle a bit.

gutting the precats ibn conjunction with a non standard back box often causes this

as you replaced the manifold I suspect it's the same reason

I wouldn't worry about
