hi guys

I just connected an amp and rear speakers but no power seems to be going in the amplifier as the power light is not coming on , Ive checked the fuses but they seem ok. could it be the earth wire (-ve), I've connected that to one of the screws in the bin door. Also my battery was disconnected for about 3 hours while I was doing this. Car is starting up ok. Hope you guys can help

To make the amp work you need a ood earth connection ( the bolt for the hinge is fine, it's what I use.), A permanant 12 volt feed, and a 12 volt feed from a source that turns on when the head unit is on. The electrica antenna signal is usual for this. Check you have all 3 in place.

the 12v lead that turns the amp on will be labeled up as REMOTE

Right I have the stock sony head unit, any idea where I should connect the remote wire? I think that might be the problem.

it is if you dont have it connected to anything. The remote wire turns the amp on and off. You need to find the aerial wire at the back of the H/U and connect it to that as Grant says

ok I did connect the remote wire but I think it is in the wrong place, I connected it to the hole where I think the remote control goes in. Now theres a block(different wires) and a black wire which goes in the head unit. Theres also a blue  thin wire which has an ATT label attached to it ( this is not connected to the head unit) . where do I connect the remote wire?

Dont forget - if using the ANT wire on a stock Sony, it only goes live if you are either listening to the radio, or have RDS/AF selected whilst using the CD. There is power on signal on the head unit, but it doesnt get presented on the adaptor loom that Toyota fitted.

I've just find out on the head unit manual that the REM wire is the blue/while striped in the block, how do I connect my remote wire for the amp now? Do I need to cut it

if its got a remote output then just cut and splice the wires together, splices are small metal tubes that are crushed with a pair of pliers to form a permanent conection, they're available from Halfrauds

You could have looked on here  m http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10742 m
to find the wire you were after. I had similar qery when I put my amp in.
Used a scotch connector to piggyback the wire from the amp remote to the blue/white from the H/U. Care is needed as the wire tends to be quite thin.
