Ipod in Glove Box?

Sorry this is really an idiot question but electronics bewilder me!

I'm going for a pioneer head unit with the ipod adaptor, Im told I can control all the Ipod functions from this head unit so I thought Id run the connector into the glove box so its out of sight, secure and I can lock it.

Just wondering will this be easy?

Is the glove box accesable from the back?

I know its an idiot question but help would be appreciatated.

Yep its no problem.

i have the Alpine 9850 ri and all you do is run the connecter lead through the back of the glove box..no holes need cutting etc as there is a gap in the corner.

Works a treat and I dont have to disconnect the ipod when i leave the car either...as soon as the ignition is off the ipod powers down.

Yeah did this myself, as soon as you stick your head under the dash all will be clear.

Piece of cake to do this.  Took me about a morning, including a trip to Halfrauds for some goodies, and taking lots of time to get things neat and tidy underneath the dash/behind the centre console.

See this post here - I added it to my original thread in order to record what I did to fit mine after asking the question about power take-off points.

I have just switched from a Dension Ice Link connecting my iPod to the Sony Double-din unit to an Alpine unit with built in connectivity and Full Speed, or whatever they call it. Whilst the sound of the Alpine is (arguably) better and from a practical standpoint the ipod is safer in the glove box there is a big down-side to the Alpine against the Dension. The Dension Ice Link allows you to control the music with your iPod click-wheel whereas the Alpine makes you use the Alpine's controls. These controls are no where near as good as the iPods and means that big track-lists, Album or Artist searches become impossible. You are virtually forced to use Playlists, which just is not as flexible as using the Ipod via the Dension.

That's just my opinion - but I think others who have tried/owned both may agree.

Hmmm somewhat true.

It is easier with the click wheel.....I even went for the 9850 ri as the ones before were slower to search the ipod.  s:( s:(

But we just put our faves on the pod and stick the stereo on random anyway  s:) s:)
