Autoleads make one for the '2.

If I am not mistaken, it's the same one as the RAV4 but don't quote me on that.

I think this might be the one you're after but better double check:

You can get autoleads stuff from Halfords, or 1001 places on the internet.

Aerial... make sure the TA (traffic announcement) is turned offf, then when you're listening to a CD the aerial should stay down.

Would it cover the sides? As you can see from my pics you can see the silver brackets and it looks a bit messy

Have a look at the website I mentioned. On the right hand side there is a picture of my MR2 with the fascia installed. Click on it for a better view. Looks lovely. No gaps or metal....   s:) :) s:)

If you have an auto leads adapter thingy for your stereo into the car loom ? then the wires are labeled.

I cut the one that says  remote aerial and added a switch. Now you can decide if it goes up or not.

Try re-fitting the surround trim from your original stereo - this should cover the gap at the sides.  It's the large, square, 'ring'[1] that clips under the heater controls.

If your car is pre-03 facelift you can re-use the original 'square ring' like this

The aerial will automatically come up if you have the following options on the stereo

Traffic Alerts etc.

On the Sony - you could turn this off, which then meant that if you were listening to a CD - and you had the traffic alerts off, then the aerial would remain down.  If you have it on, then the aerial stays up so that it can then give you any Traffic Alerts that are broadcasted.

Yes, go for Matt for the fascia. and easiest thing to solve the aerial problem is to do a search on alternatives to the electric one. there are a few possibilities for replacing it with something which a) looks nicer and b) won't pop up all the time.

I'm afraid I do, whether or not the traffic info option is selected. It's never bothered me that much probably because it's behind me so I don't notice it when I'm driving. I do think the stock aerial looks stupid though, I would've replaced with one of the bee-sting ones from that chap on spyderchat but from what I've read, they suffer from poorer reception than the stock monstrosity.

As for the fascia, I used the RAV 4 one like everyone else, I think I had to prise the surround off of the old stock radio though and use the little plastic surround that came with the Kenwood unit as well. It looks great now though, when the D-Mask face flips over it looks very neat.

Sexy,

All of the adapter kits I have seen end up with a tiny half-sized pocket that I can't get my fat fingers into when I need to retreive some article.

What I believe you need are spacers that snap onto each side of the CD-radio/pocket assembly to fill the bit of gap between it and the original trim ring.  Fortunately Mr T has such a product.

I am not sure if these parts are available in the UK or not, but the part numbers on the spacers are: 86221-52060 and 86221-52050.  Toyota lists these as belonging to a 2000 Celica and you can order just these spacers instead of the entire audio kit.

If you can not source these in the UK, a potential solution (what I did until I found these), is to pick up a scrap bit of black sponge/foam (got mine from a plumbing supply company) and cut it into strips the height of the rectangular trim pice - stuffed the foam in - and while it did not match the interior (ghetto would be the US term) it did allow the full pocket while hiding the ugly side bits.

Apologies for the slow reply, I just re-read this thread in the light of lbridges comment:

which made me go back and have another look at your pictures (properly this time  s:roll:  s:roll: )
It does look like the bits you need are the side spacers.  See my post here for the part numbers that I got from Mr. T when I swapped my head unit.
