Burning rubber

hi all,
I have just tried to fit a autoleads facia adaptor FP - 11 - 03  to my 2000 model but there is a gap around the outside. Should this kit have a trim that fits around the edge?

thanks

Install note : Pre 03 cars need to buy part no. 55423-17040 from Toyota to complete the installation. It is the outer trim ring from the post 03 stereo.

Or use the existing black ring from the original stereo and buy a single-DIN 'pocket' to sit underneath your single-DIN stereo.  IMHO the best option visually.

This method worked for me (Sony head unit) but apparently some people couldn't do it with other head units.

i'll try the existing bracket then as I have a Sony mp3 player to go in
If it works I'll have a autoleads adaptor to sell
cheers

The single-DIN pocket I used was Autoleads FP006.  Think you can get them in Halfords.

You probably already have one I guess.

Sorry to drag this back Up,

Is there a way to combine the facia adapter with the original fittings in order to stop all the cables hanging out at the back? The original uses long side panels which inclose the stero and cableing while the facia only encloses the stero.

Any Ideas  s:?: :?: s:?:

Interesting question. I have cables hanging out the back.... I'll have a dig around and see if I can come up with something neater.

I changed my headunit today and have the same problem.  As a stop gap, I went to hobby craft and bought a sheet of black (thought it looks grey) foam sheet for about 80 pence.  I cut it to match the shape behind the stereo on each side (looks like a large triangle).  I then removed the plastic side panels which run between the dash and the floor and put the foam in place, reattached the plastic sides so it clamps the foam and jobs a good-un.  If the foam was black, rather than grey, it would look like it was delivered that way.  Cheap option to hide the cables anyway.

reddi,

Single-DIN 'tray' to fill the gap.  e.g. Autoleads FP006
